Alyssa and Ryan's Detroit wedding was the perfect mix of clean, modern style and real, genuine fun. The weekend centered around The Godfrey Hotel in Corktown, one of Detroit’s newest rooftop venues, where the architecture and the energy of the city set the tone for the whole day. Everything felt intentional without being overly formal, and the couple focused on what mattered most: celebrating with their favorite people.
Before the ceremony, we stopped at Grand Central Station in Corktown for portraits, and it could not have been a better backdrop. The historic building, the tall columns, and the warm light gave us the most cinematic atmosphere. One of my favorite shots from the day happened there — Alyssa and Ryan standing together, holding hands, smiling at each other while their wedding party walked past in motion blur. It felt like real life happening around them, while they were totally locked into the moment with each other.
Their rooftop ceremony at The Godfrey was simple, elegant, and personal. The greenery backdrop, the neutral color palette, and the clean design paired perfectly with the Detroit skyline. Kate looked incredible in her off-the-shoulder gown, and the relaxed energy from both families made everything feel natural and easy.
And then the reception turned into a full-on celebration. The rooftop lights came on, the dance floor packed immediately, and at one point, the couple was lifted in chairs — smiling, laughing, and taking in the moment. It was the kind of night where nobody wanted to leave the dance floor.
Kate and Shane’s wedding is one I’ll always remember — not because of over-the-top details or anything dramatic, but because of how genuine it felt. Beautiful design, great people, Detroit city energy, and a whole lot of joy.
